Biografie:
In seiner genreübergreifenden Musik kombiniert der italienisch-amerikanische Komponist Raphael Fusco Harmonien und Rhythmen des Jazz & Pop mit denen barocker und klassischer Kompositionstradition.
Sein Oeuvre umfasst mehr als 200 Kompositionen vokaler Musik, Kammer- und Orchestermusik, welche von führenden Künstlern weltweit gespielt werden; seine Werke kamen an Konzertorten wie der Carnegie Hall, Kimmel Center Philadelphia, Casa Milà, Teatro degli Astrusi, St. Bavo Kerk oder der Église de Saint Séverin zur Aufführung. Raphael schrieb Auftragswerke für Künstler und Ensembles wie Branford Marsalis, Barbara Dever, Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia, Orchestra of St. Luke’s, New York Repertory Orchestra, Cecilia Chorus of New York, I Cantori New York, Los Percussiones de Barcelona und Mitglieder des New York Philharmonic und Metropolitan Opera Orchesters.
2019 nahm Raphael Fusco sein Debüt Album mit selbst eingespielten Klavier Solo Kompositionen unter dem Titel Remixes auf. Im Juli 2020 wird seine erste Oper inSOMNIA beim neugegründeten Opernfestival Oberpfalz uraufgeführt. Raphael Fusco ist Preisträger des NATS Art Song Competition, American Prize for Music, Aliénor International Harpsichord Competition, Padre Martini Fugue Award, Bohuslav Martinū Composition Award, sowie Stipendiat der National Italian American Federation and Exploring the Metropolis. Raphael war Composer-inResidence beim Empire Chamber Orchestra, Bachanalia Festival Orchestra und Turtle Bay Music School.
Er unterrichtete als Professor für Komposition, Musiktheorie, Gehörbildung und Musikgeschichte an der Seton Hall University, Mannes College of Music und Mahanaim College. Er studierte Komposition, Klavier und Dirigieren am Mannes College of Music (NYC), Conservatorio Giuseppe Verdi di Torino, dem Wiener Konservatorium sowie der Pariser Schola Cantorum. Seit 2019 ist Raphael Fusco als Senior Artist an der Kunstuniversität Graz tätig und unterrichtet ferner als Dozent beim Opera Lucca Festival und Classic Lyric Arts Festival.
In his music Raphael Fusco fuses harmonies and rhythms of Jazz and Pop music with gestures and techniques of the Baroque and Classical eras. His catalog includes over 200 pieces of vocal, chamber, theater and orchestral music increasingly performed by some of the world’s leading artists and ensembles.
His work has been met with praise in prestigious concert halls and churches throughout the US and Europe including Carnegie Hall (NY), The Kimmel Center (PA), Casa Milà (SP), Teatro degli Astrusi (IT), St. Bavo Church (NL), Eglise de Saint Séverin (FR) and many others. Commissions and collaborations include Branford Marsalis, Barbara Dever, Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia, Orchestra of St. Luke’s, New York Repertory Orchestra, Cecilia Chorus of New York, I Cantori New York, Los Percussiones de Barcelona and members of the New York Philharmonic and Metropolitan Opera Orchestras. Mr. Fusco has served as Composer-in-Residence of Empire Chamber Orchestra, Bachanalia Festival Orchestra, and Turtle Bay Music School. He holds a Master’s degree from Mannes College of Music and completed studies in piano, composition and conducting at the Conservatorio G. Verdi di Torino, Vienna Konservatorium, and Paris Schola Cantorum. Since 2019 Raphael Fusco is a Senior Artist at the University of Arts Graz and further teaches as a lecturer at Opera Lucca Festival and Classic Lyric Arts Festival.
